ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi - AFP
CAIRO – 8 March 2018: An Iraqi court has sentenced the sister of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the top leader of the Islamic State terrorist (IS) group to death over terror-related charges, reported Associated Press Thursday.
The woman is found convicted over providing logistic and financial support for IS militants in Mosul, which helped the terror group to carry out criminal acts, AP quoted a statement by the Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council.
Mosul was under the IS control since mid-2014 until it was completely liberated and recaptured by the Iraqi army last year.
Rumors previously circulated in different occasions that Al-Baghdadi was killed in airstrikes; however, reports were never confirmed. His whereabouts are unknown.
