CAIRO – 5 March 2018: In conjunction with the International Women’s Day, Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar decided to open the police hospitals' doors in several governorates for free for women from all over the country.

In an official statement issued on Monday, March 5, the Interior Ministry said that receiving women for free in the ministry's hospitals will last for three days in a row, starting from March 5 until March 7 from 5 - 8 PM.

“This initiative comes in light of the ministry’s keenness to be play a more effective role in the Egyptian society and especially in women's lives,” the statement read.

As part of the International Women's Day's celebrations in 2017, the ministry decided to give all imprisoned women exceptional visits for their friends and families. The Interior Ministry usually allows exceptional visits and pardons on religious and social occasions, as part of its strategy to be more supportive to all Egyptian citizens.
