CAIRO – 3 March 2018: President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s campaign announced it will hold a mass conference on March 10 in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates to launch "Enzl w Sharek" campaign (Go Vote) to promote the election of Sisi for a second term in Egypt’s upcoming presidential election in March.
The general coordinator of the campaign in the UAE, Majdi Al-Alfy, said that the new campaign targets more than 200,000 Egyptian citizens residing in the UAE to encourage them to participate in the upcoming presidential election.
On the occasion of the proposed conference, Al-Alfy expressed his deep pride of the close ties between the two countries, praising the role of the UAE in enhancing the cooperation among Arab nations in various fields to achieve their common interests.
He pointed out that the conference will include the details of Sisi’s electoral program, as well as a presentation to review the achievements made during Sisi’s four-year tenure in various fields. The conference’s speakers will urge citizens to take part in the upcoming presidential elections to deliver a clear message to the world that the Egyptian people support President Sisi.
The National Election Authority (NEA), headed by counselor Lashin Ibrahim, has announced the final list for Egypt’s upcoming presidential election due in March 2018. The list includes current President Sisi and candidate Moussa Moustafa Moussa, Head of al-Ghad Party.
Sisi showed his intention to run for president during his closing speech at the end of the three-day “Tale of a Homeland” conference, where the president and the Egyptian government presented an overview of the projects and achievements made in different fields during the last four years.
On his official Twitter account, Sisi called on the Egyptian people to participate intensively in the upcoming election and give their votes to whomever they see most eligible.
The NEA announced that the voting process in the 2018 presidential election will start on March 26, in a televised statement on January 8.
Sixty million eligible voters will cast their ballots in the election on March 26-28 in Egypt, while expatriates will vote on March 16-18, said Ibrahim in a press conference.
The final list of the candidates will be announced on February 24, he added, noting that the deadline for any candidate to retreat will be on March 1. The primary results of the first round of the election will be announced on March 29, where decisions on appeals submitted by candidates, if any, will be made.
The final results of the first round will be announced on April 2.
