CAIRO – 26 February 2018: All kinds of religious-based organizations and groups are posing a threat to religions and countries, Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said Monday February 26.
During his inauguration speech at the 28th international conference of the High Council for Islamic Affairs, titled "Terrorism making and its risks and the inevitability of confrontation and its mechanism", Gomaa affirmed that these kinds of groups divide societies and impose strange and new thoughts on it, aiming to achieve certain goals set by other governments and countries.

“The state's interests are not separate from the religious principles that call for unity and loyalty,” Gomaa said. He added that everything that supports a strong and stable nation is an integral part of the religion, and to the contrary, everything that poses risks to the nation’s stability and security is not consistent with the principles of religions.

“We are aiming to raise the awareness about the importance of confronting terrorism. It’s not just the government’s responsibility, but the responsibility of the whole society,” Gomaa added.
The two-day conference, sponsored by President Abdel Fatah al Sisi, is supposed to review more than 50 researches on terrorism industry, its religious, social, security and economic dangers, the role of media and the civil society in confronting terrorism, ways of backing the State in its anti-terror war and the importance of drafting an international strategy to fight terrorism. A Cairo Declaration will be issued at the end of the conference.

More than 150 participants are taking part in the conference. It is worth mentioning that Arab League assistant chief Badr el Din al Ali, Head of the Religious and Awqaf Affairs Committee at the House of Representatives Osama el Abd, Secretary General of the World Islamic League Mohamed Abdel Karim, in addition to representatives of Al Azhar, the Coptic Orthodox Church and Dar al-Ifta, attended the opening session.
