CAIRO - 24 February 2018: The Libyan anti-terrorism forces have arrested an Egyptian citizen in Tobruk city, near to Egyptian borders, suspecting that he may be affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group.
In a press statement released Saturday, the forces of combating terrorism and destructive phenomena announced the arrest of al-Said Massoud Othman al-Qaradawi, an Egyptian physician, over charges of joining the MB, inciting violence against the Libyan army through his Facebook page, as well as inciting the terrorist groups in cities of Derna, Serte and Benghazi to fight against the army.
The statement revealed that Massoud used his Facebook account to invite Libyan youth to join Jihad and terrorist groups in Libya.
The Muslim Brotherhood is not labeled as a terrorist group in Libya, they are represented by a political party (Justice and Building Party), however, Massoud’s fate is still unknown.
Earlier this year, the Government of National Accord based is Tripoli arrested another Egyptian accused of recruiting men in Serte city to join the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group in the south of the war-torn country.
