CAIRO - 20 February 2018: Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit on Tuesday received a message from South Sudanese President Slava Kiir in which he expressed desire to promote relations with Arab countries.
Abul Gheit received the message at a meeting with the minister of presidential affairs in South Sudan, who is now visiting Cairo in his capacity as a presidential envoy, said AL spokesman Mahmoud Afifi.
The meeting took up the recent developments in South Sudan and efforts exerted to stop acts of hostility there and protect civilians, added the spokesman.
Abul Ghiet asserted at the meeting the AL's keenness on supporting regional and international efforts encouraging dialogue by the parties concerned in South Sudan, said the spokesman.
For his part, the South Sudanese presidential envoy said his country is proud of its relations with the Arab countries and is keen on promoting its relations with the Arab states at the political, economic and diplomatic levels, added the spokesman.
