CAIRO - 15 February 2018: Spanish King Felipe VI hailed on Wednesday Egypt’s “comprehensive military operation of Sinai 2018,” which the Egyptian armed forces launched on February 9 to purge the country from terrorism.
During his meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Felipe VI also expressed his condolences to the families of terrorism.
Felipe VI hailed the development of military relations between Spain and Egypt, seeking to develop further cooperation between them.

From his part, Shoukry hailed the close relations between the two countries in all regional issues and expressed his keenness to enhance the coordination between the two countries.
During the meeting, Shoukry reviewed indicators of Egypt’s economy improving through the implementation of the country’s economic reform program in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Shoukry headed for Spain on Tuesday on a two-day visit to boost bilateral ties between both countries, the ministry spokesman said.

Upon his arrival, Shoukry met with Felipe VI and discussed means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the political, economic and trade domains.
Shoukry will then leave Spain for Munich to attend the Munich Security Conference (MSC), between February 15 and 18.

The MSC agenda will focus in particular on the future role of the European Union as a global actor and its relations with Russia as well as the U.S.
Shoukry will be the main speaker at the conference's session on combating terrorism.
