U.S. assistant secretary of state arrives in Cairo

CAIRO - 10 February 2018: U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Satterfield arrived on Saturday, after wrapping up his visit to Lebanon.

Satterfield's visit comes in preparation for the expected visit of the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to Egypt.

Tillerson is scheduled to make a Mideast tour that will include Cairo, Amman, Ankara, Beirut, and Kuwait City on February 11–16.

Tillerson will meet with senior Egyptian officials in Cairo to discuss the US-Egypt partnership, how to further strengthen it, and coordinate on key regional issues, said US Department of State spokesperson Heather Nauert.
