President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi inaugurates the first stage of the 100,000 acres of greenhouses project in Matrouh on Feb. 8, 2018
CAIRO – 8 February 2018: During the inauguration of the first phase of a project to establish greenhouses on an area of 100,000 feddans – one feddan measures as approximately one acre – in the Matrouh governorarte on Thursday. President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi has issued an order to accelerate the finalization of current projects such as Mahmudiyah axis and Bashayer El-Kheir housing project in Alexandria governorate.
He demanded the government completes the Mahmudiyah axis in Alexandria within a year. “It’s not a route. It is an integrated development axis,” Sisi added, asserting that this project will develop the irrigation system.
Mahmudiyah axis is one of the projects approved by the president during the Fourth National Youth Conference in Alexandria last month.
The project contributes to the provision of a new traffic artery in the city of Alexandria, which helps to reduce the traffic congestion, as well as eliminating the manifestations of neglect suffered by the Mahmoudiyah canal over the past years and improve the situation in the areas surrounding the course.
Sisi also stated that the government is not responsible for establishing the second and third stages of Bashayer El-Kheir housing project, but it is the responsibility of the civil society and businessmen to contribute to the Tahya Masr Fund to establish it.
He stated that Bashayer El-Kheir project includes 15,000 housing units and the unit is not less than 100 square meters. These housing units are built for on a low income.
In the first stage of Bashayer El-Kheir housing project, he said that 1,000 housing units will be delivered to citizens by next June 30.
Bashayer El-Kheir housing project is part of a national plan to remove squatter areas nationwide.
Moreover, Sisi asserted that the government should preserve the rights of seasonal laborers and provide them with a health insurance. He said that that a million people work with the Ministry of Housing so why not assigning a fund with the Ministry of Solidarity to insure the workers.
Sisi asserted that using modern methods of irrigation and agriculture will save a huge amount of water that can be utilized in other sectors. He called on Egyptians not to be careless when using water.
During the inauguration of the first phase of a project to establish greenhouses on an area of 100,000 feddans (approx. one acre) in the Matrouh governorarte, Sisi stated that these greenhouse projects are not “luxurious,” but important projects that should be taken seriously by the government and citizens.
