KUWAIT CITY - 7 February 2018: Egypt constitutes the strategic depth for the Arab world and is a country of heavy weight at international gatherings, a senior Kuwaiti official said Wednesday.

Speaking to MENA on the sidelines of a permanent committee meeting to review the implementation of a five-year plan of action, Kuwait's assistant foreign minister Nasser al Sobaih touched upon continued cooperation between Cairo and Kuwait at the political, economic and social levels.

The two countries also share the same views regarding the different regional and international issues, Sobaih added.

He hailed as "strong and deep" relations between the two Arab countries.

Kuwait has been supportive of the Palestinian people and leadership since the start of the Arab-Israeli conflict, the diplomat said, adding that his country has spared no effort in this regard.

The Palestinian cause remains a top priority of Kuwait's foreign policy, Sobaih stressed.

He said his country is keen on offering all kind of support for the Palestinian people to help alleviate their suffering and secure their basic needs.
