CAIRO – 22 April 2017: Spain’s civil guard police said that it arrested an Egyptian man over charges of belonging to an international terror organization.
The 43-year-old Egyptian man was arrested in the central town of El Espinar near the city of Segovia, according to AP.
The suspect reportedly belongs to a terror cell that was broken up by German authorities in April 2002, when he was arrested and then released later, the Spanish Ministry of Interior said in a Saturday statement.
The investigations were conducted in cooperation between the Spanish authorities and their Egyptian and German counterparts.
An extradition order is expected to be issued to return the suspect to Egypt, where authorities were seeking his arrest, AP reported.
