CAIRO – 22 April 2017: Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met Saturday with Yusuf bin Alawi, Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss boosting mutual cooperation between the two countries.
A statement released by the Egyptian presidency affirmed President Sisi’s keenness to increase the level of coordination and dialogue between Egypt and Oman.
Sisi pointed out to the importance of the upcoming Egyptian-Omani joint commission meetings, stressing that good preparation for the meetings is a must. The meetings is set to take place in Muscat in 2017.
Sisi looks forward to results of the meetings, which are likely to contribute to the activation of various mutual relations and cooperation in different fields, the statement said.
Bin Alawi extended Omani Sultan Qaboos’ greetings to the Egyptian president. He affirmed Oman’s appreciation to its strong ties with Egypt.
The meeting discussed developments of various regional issues and crises and the need to exert extra efforts to reach political settlements that would preserve the unity of war-torn countries in the region.
Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry and the Omani Ambassador to Cairo attended the meeting.
