CAIRO – 21 April 2017: Members of the international media delegation covering Pope Francis’ visit to Egypt arrived Friday in Cairo, said security sources at Cairo International Airport.
A private plane carrying the media delegation comprised of 60 journalists and media personnel arrived at the airport along with 60 other clerical aides to the Pope, they added.
Pope Francis will visit Egypt on April 28-29. He is scheduled to meet with President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and then hold talks with Al-Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb.
The pontiff will also deliver a speech at Al Azhar’s international conference on peace.
The agenda of Pope Francis’ visit will also include a joint meeting with Egypt’s Coptic Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark.
Francis will become the second Roman Catholic pope to visit Egypt, following John Paul II's historic trip here in February 2000.
