CAIRO – 25 January 2018: A wave of bad weather and rainfall hit Cairo, nothern coasts and some governorates in Upper Egypt on Thursday, according to Egypt’s Meteological Authority.

Low and medium clouds will be accompanied with rains on the northern coasts, Cairo and Upper Egypt, while in Central Sinai, rains will be heavy and thunderous.

In this regard, Alexandria Port Authority decided to close Alexandria and Dekheila harbors due to bad weather and high wind velocity.

The decision is meant to prevent collision of ships and ensure safety of maritime navigation, said an official in the Alexandria Port Authority.

Alexandria has been hit by a noticeable drop in temperature, high wind velocity and gale-force waves.

Due to heavy rains across Egypt, General Directorate of Traffic (GDT) has deployed traffic relief cars on the roads to help citizens in case of traffic accidents.

Heavy rains caused flooding and closure of El Tagamoa’s roads, leading to traffic congestion. Besides, traffic police officers have closed off the October Bridge to keep the cars from slipping due to the accumulation of rainwater in some areas.
