Egypt’s police kill terrorist involved in Sinai checkpoint attack

CAIRO – 20 April 2017: Terrorist involved in Saint Catherine checkpoint attack was killed in a police shooting Wednesday, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior stated.

Security forces in South Sinai, in cooperation with Bedouins in the area, tracked the perpetrators of the attack through the mountainous valleys until they located the terrorist’s hiding place, the statement clarified, adding that the latter used his weapon against the forces, which called for a quick reaction.

According to a security source, the attacker was carrying ammunition and grenades in his bag that had the name “Abu Fares Al Maghraby” written on it.

A group of armed militants opened fire at a police checkpoint on Saint Catherine’s road, South Sainai Wednesday, killing one police officer and injuring four others.
