Abdul Aal: Bahrain’s security integral to Egypt’s security

CAIRO – 24 January 2018: Parliament Speaker Ali Abdul Aal stressed on Monday that Bahrain’s security is an integral part of Egyptian national security, which Egypt will not accept to be touched. He also called for making more Bahraini investments in Egypt within the economic reforms witnessed in Egypt.


This was during a parliamentary delegation’s visit to Bahrain led by Abdul Aal in which he met with many officials, including Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.


Abdul Aal stressed during his meeting with Al Khalifa the deep bilateral relations, praising the Bahraini king’s efforts to support security and stability in the Gulf and Arab region.


In this regard, Abdul Aal confirmed that Egypt firmly supports Bahrain against all risks and conspiracies threatening its internal and external security, because Bahrain’s security is an integral part of Egypt’s security, which Egypt will not accept to be touched because of their brotherly ties.


On the other hand, Al Khalifa remarked that Egypt plays a leading role in the Middle East for achieving stability in the region, stressing that all Arab countries should stand united against any conspiracy organized against Egypt.


As a part of the visit, the parliamentary delegation gathered with Bahraini Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman, during which the delegation called on Bahrain to make more investments in Egypt based on Egypt’s positive economic reforms and the legislations issued to create a suitable environment for investments in Egypt, topped by the industrial licensing law.


Furthermore, to confirm the importance of regional and international coordination between the Egyptian and Bahraini parliaments, the delegation met with Chairman of Bahrain’s Shura Council Ali Bin Saleh Al Saleh.


Abdul Aal left for Manama on Saturday, leading a parliamentary delegation upon an invitation by Bahrain’s Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Rashid al Malla.


This visit came amid the terrorist plot that Bahrain foiled on Sunday, as 47 people were arrested on charges of plotting to assassinate public figures and attack oil facilities in Manama, Bahrain’s capital, after the security forces monitored contacts between Iranian Revolutionary Guards and these elements, according to the Interior Ministry of Bahrain.


The ministry revealed that the majority of these elements are run by Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Popular Crowd Forces in Iraq.


It added that the terrorist crimes include attempts to assassinate officials and public figures; targeting of police officers, policemen and security patrols; arson and vandalism targeting oil establishments to hit the national economy; and plots to vandalize and disrupt national celebrations.
