Egyptian army troops in North Sinai- Reuters
CAIRO - 23 January 2018: Law enforcement forces of the Second Field Army, in cooperation with the Air Force, killed over the past two days two dangerous takfiri elements in North Sinai, military spokesman Colonel Tamer el Refaei said in a Tuesday statement.
Two other takfiris were arrested while plotting to carry out a terrorist operation against the armed forces, he added.
The spokesman revealed that several suspects were also held and are being interrogated by security bodies.
Many hideouts of the takfiri elements were destroyed during the operation, Refaei said.
The forces also destroyed a booby-trapped four-wheel-drive vehicle and detonated six explosive devices belonging to the terrorists, he added.
The move comes as part of efforts exerted by the Armed Forces to eradicate terrorism, he noted.
