UN says USD 1.7 bn raised to help people in Syria

DAMASCUS - 11 January 2018: UN Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator (OCHA) Mark Lowcock announced on Wednesday that a sum of 1.7 billion dollars was raised to help meet the needs of people all over Syria.

On his three-day visit to Syria, Lowcock said that the UN humanitarian agencies help more than 7.5 million people in Syria.

While in Damascus, he is expected to discuss how to facilitate the delivery of aid into affected areas.
