CAIRO – 10 January 2018: Egyptian Air Force Commander in Chief Younes Al Masry met with Robert Karem, U.S. assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs, in Cairo to further the military cooperation between the two countries.
The two military officials held two separate meetings on January 8 and January 9. During the once-a-year meetings, the two officials took in several issues, including terrorism and ways to confront it through unified and joint efforts.
Karem, who also met with Minister of Defense Sedky Sobhy, stressed the need to stamp out regional terrorism and its sponsors. He further explained that the goal of the conference is “to strengthen our partnership and to take our relationship to a new level to address these strategic challenges together.”
In September, the “Bright Star 2017” military exercise between the Egyptian and U.S. armed forces took place at the Mohamed Naguib military base in the northern military zone.
