House of Representatives approves extending emergency state

CAIRO - 9 January 2018: The House of Representatives on Tuesday approved extending the state of emergency in the country for three months as of January 13, 2018.

The motion passed with more than two thirds majority at the House general session that was held under Speaker Ali Abdel Aal.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had issued a decree in 2017 imposing the state of emergency given the dangerous security situation in the country.
