CAIRO – 13 April 2017: Egypt’s Interior Ministry identified on Thursday the bomber who targeted Mar Girgis Church in Tanta, killing 28 people, according to a statement by the ministry.
The suicide bomber was identified as Mamdouh Amin Mohamed Boghdadi, 40, member of a terrorist cell led by the fugitive extremist Amr Saad Abbas Ibrahim.
Boghdadi was trained in using military weapons and manufacturing explosives and he previously participated in an attack on a security check point in New Valley Governorate, the statement read.
The ministry announced it was able to capture three other members of the terrorist cell and set a financial award of EGP500,000 for any information that could lead the security forces to the terrorist fugitives.
The Ministry of Interior named on Wednesday the suicide bomber behind the Alexandria’s Coptic Orthodox attack, as Mahmoud Hassan Mubarak Abdullah affiliated with the same terrorist group.
