CAIRO - 2 January 2018: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has reiterated Egypt's support for reaching a political solution to the Syrian crisis to maintain the unity of the Arab country and achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people.
During a meeting with a delegation of the Syrian opposition led by Nasr al Hariri, Head of the Syrian High Negotiations Committee (HNC), Shoukry stressed the importance of resuming negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations in Geneva to end the Syrian crisis.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said the Syrian opposition delegation appreciated Egypt's invitation to visit Cairo and praised Egypt's role in unifying all opposition groups.
Shoukry also reiterated Egypt's keenness on achieving progress in the Syrian political process during the coming phase, calling for consultations and coordination among all parties.
