CAIRO - 12 April: A Saudi Arabian court sentenced a Saudi national Tuesday to nine years in prison over charges of supporting the terrorist IS group.
According to the Saudi daily newspaper Okaz, the defendant was found guilty of publishing posts on Twitter that would destabilize the general regime.
The defendant was convicted of tweeting several statements that supported IS and glorified its members. He also called for the release of those detained and convicted in security cases.
The defendant's portable computer was confiscated, his accounts on social media websites were closed and he was banned from traveling abroad for a similar period of his imprisonment.
