Cairo—April 10: The funeral of the victims of Alexandria's Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral attack, taking place at St. Mina Monastery, has been concluded after the bodies were buried.
A convoy carrying bodies of the victims of Alexandria's Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral attack has arrived at St. Mina Monastery, west of Alexandria, on Monday.
St. Mina Monastery is the final resting place of 23 Copts who lost their lives in the 2011 Qiddiseen (Two Saints) Church bombing. Yesterday’s victims will be buried in the same cemetery.
Families of the victims arrived at St. Mina Monastery to attend the funeral amid tight security, especially at the outer gates of the Monastery.
A suicide bomber blew himself up yesterday in front of Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Alexandria, killing 17 and injuring 48. The attack came four hours after an explosion ripped through Mar Girgis Church in Tanta, killing 28 and injuring 77.
Pope Tawadros II, head of the Coptic Church and who was attending the Palm Sunday service, was unhurt following the attack.
ISIS has claimed responsibility for the twin bombings.
