Foreign Ministry calls Mar Girgis Church attack "obnoxious"

Cairo - 9 April 2017: The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has described the attack on Mar Girgis Church in Tanta Sunday as an "obnoxious and failed attempt."

"Terrorism hits Egypt again, this time on Palm Sunday. Another obnoxious but failed attempt against all Egyptians," the Foreign Ministry tweeted.

A huge explosion ripped through Tanta's Mar Girgis Church at 9:10 a.m., leaving 21 dead and 59 injured, according to Egypt's Ministry of Health.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing.
