CAIRO – 8 April 2017: The Egyptian Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) relaunched its smartphone application that allows citizens to report complaints and issues to the Government Complaints Portal (GCP) in a matter of minutes.

“IDSC has launched the Egaby app for smartphones which helps citizens to assess the performance of government institutions through monitoring and recording day-to-day issues at various government service sectors,” IDSC announced on its official website.

Egaby (Arabic for positive) allows users to report any societal issues they encounter to the GCP. A personnel member will contact complainants, investigate the issue and provide the necessary solution to the complaints submitted.

“This application will help in enhancing the performance of government institutions via the citizen's monitoring as it will enable the user to monitor positive and negative events, share them on social media and use GPS to locate the scene,” IDSC continued.

The application includes other services that would be of interest to citizens or expats living in Egypt, such as a contact list of government authorities and organizations as well as emergency numbers.

User reviews of the application were mixed.

“I was amazed when someone from the government contacted me about the issue I reported,” commented Sherif Sabry on the application’s page on Google’s Play Store.

Others, like Rael Allam, were not as impressed. “Poor, very slow, not responding,” Allam commented, rating it with only two stars.

The application was first

launched

for the Android platform in November 2016; the relaunch came as IDSC launched the application for the Apple platform in late March 2017.
