CAIRO – 8 April 2017: Al-Azhar has condemned the Stockholm truck attack that killed four people in Sweden on Friday, affirming its position against all criminal and terrorist acts.

The statement

released by Al-Azhar, Egypt’s top religious authority, also offered condolences to the government and the people of Sweden.

“All people have the right to live in safety and security, regardless of their religion, color, sex or language,” the statement read.

On Friday afternoon, a man rammed into a department store in the Swedish capital with a stolen beer truck, killing four people and injuring 15 others. Officials stated a bomb was later found in the lorry but it had not been detonated,

according to The Independent

. Police arrested a 39-year-old man from Uzbekistan, who is suspected to be the truck driver.
