CAIRO – 22 December 2017: Egypt’s Attorney General Nabil Sadek met on Thursday with his Italian counterpart Sergio Cola Yoko to exchange the results of investigations into the case of 28-year-old Italian student Giulio Regeni, who was found dead in Cairo in February 2016.

Sadek reviewed with Cola Yoko and his accompanied delegation the case reports conducted by both sides, including interviews with witnesses with alleged connections to the victim and the latest developments in the investigations.

The Egyptian authorities have cooperated with Italy over the last two years, providing all data necessary for ongoing investigations to unravel the circumstances of Regeni's death.

The body of Regeni, a PhD student who was conducting research on independent trade union movements in Egypt, was found on a roadside on the outskirts of Cairo on February 3, nine days after he disappeared on 25 January.
