Azhar carrying world peace message, says Croatian amb.

CAIRO - 20 December 2017: Al Azhar is carrying a world message of peace that should be shared by all peoples and religions, Croatian Ambassador to Egypt Tomislav Bošnjak said.

During a meeting with Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb on Wednesday, Bošnjak said his country seeks to boost relations with Al Azhar as a top religious authority in the world.

Al Azhar is one of the most important pillars of culture in Egypt, which represents a model for coexistence between Muslims and Christians, he said.

Tayyeb, meanwhile, said Al Azhar exerts strenuous efforts to face extremist thoughts and boost cooperation with other civilizations.

Al Azhar is ready to train Croatian scholars on how to deal with modern issues, such as terrorism and extremism, he said.
