Shoukry further explained that the issue of banning the Brotherhood is an American matter and the U.S. will take the decision that is best to achieve its national security.

Following the talks between Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump, Shoukry said there is a decision to resume strategic talks between the two countries on the ministerial level and the different angles of cooperation.

“What has been established by Trump several times is his support for Egypt, politically, economically and in terms of security, as well as an appreciation for Sisi’s efforts in combating terrorism and changing religious discourse,” Shoukry stated.

Concerning the economic situation, Shoukry said the U.S. is ready to support Egypt in its economic challenges by enhancing American investments and encouraging U.S. companies to work in Egypt.

As for U.S. financial support, particularly military aid, Shoukry said there is an understanding that the aid “is an essential component in the relations [between the two countries] and an important factor [enabling] Egypt to take on its role in combating terrorism and achieving regional stability.”

Shoukry also commented on Sisi’s “glorified reception” in Washington, which, he said, signifies the importance of the visit for the American administration.
