CAIRO – 3 April 2017: A delegation of young Egyptian diplomats is visiting Ethiopia and will next travel to Uganda to meet with officials of the two countries, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs press release said Sunday.
The young diplomats, chosen from the 49th class of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies (IDS), are meant to acquire the necessary practical experience to excel in their field.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Ahmed Abu Zaid, said the delegation of 23 young diplomatic attachés is headed by IDS Director Dr. Heba El-Marasi.
With such visits the ministry aims at “strengthening diplomatic relations between Egypt and African countries by preparing the best diplomatic cadres,” the statement read.
According to a statement issued by the Egyptian presidency in December, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi visited Uganda on an official one-day visit after receiving an official invitation from his Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museveni. The visit was set to touch upon a number of African and regional issues of mutual concern.
