CAIRO - 15 December 2017: Red Sea Governor, General Ahmed Abdullah, stated that the implementation of projects to provide basic services for citizens in Halayeb and Shalateen costs LE 3 billion. The projects aim to build schools and youth sports centers.

The governor said that The Informal Settlements Development fund implemented housing units in Halayeb and Shalateen at a cost of LE 970 million, mentioning that the area between the two cities is 170 kilometers.

Citizens in such areas will be given 300 percent incentives from the government to attract employers, as well as public utilities such as free electricity and water, he noted.

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail held a meeting in July to follow up the implementation of these projects; he issued directives to finalize two fishing ports in Shalatin and Abu Ramad, in addition to 50 greenhouses before the end of this year.

Meanwhile, Housing Minister Mostafa Madbouly stated that over 500 housing units will be finalized in Halayeb and Shalatin areas before 2018.

Also, 90 percent of water projects in the area will be finalized during the period from September to December, he noted.
