Egypt organizes int’l defense, military industry exhibition

CAIRO – 12 December 2017: The Ministry of Military Production launched a press conference to announce the organization of the first Egyptian International Defense and Military Industries Exhibition (EDEX-2018) on Tuesday.

The exhibition will be held December 3-5, 2018 in the field of defense and security industries at the regional and international levels.

The exhibition is organized in cooperation with Clarion International Defense and Security Company, the world's largest organizer of international military and security exhibitions. Clarion has organized more than 200 events in various sectors. More than 300 exhibitors from defense and security systems are expected to participate in the exhibition.

The conference was kicked off with a speech by Military Production Minister Mohamed El Assar, in which he stressed that the political leadership pays great attention to supporting this exhibition to be a major international event between similar international exhibitions and conferences.

Assar pointed out that the exhibition will be held once every two years and that this important event offers the opportunity to present Egyptian military products to international, Arab and African countries.

Tarek Saad, chairman of the Armed Forces Arming Organization, pointed out that the first Egyptian International Defense and Military Industries Exhibition (EDEX-2018) is a cultural commercial center and an international exhibition for defense and military industries, providing large opportunities for companies and visitors from different countries of the world to participate.

Saad pointed out that Egypt’s political leadership paid particular attention to implementing the concepts of comprehensive development and working to increase the driving force for achieving sustained economic growth based on regional and international partnership.

He added that the defense industry is an important source of economic growth, as it is the driving force for the development of innovations that serve the civil and military sectors.

Tim Porter, chairman of Clarion, reviewed a presentation on the exhibition, in which he explained that EDEX-2018 will provide the best opportunities for exhibitors from Egyptian and international companies, as well as the most prominent defense industries.

“It is Clarion’s pleasure, as one of the largest organizers of international conferences and exhibitions in defense and security around the world, to be given the opportunity to expand in the areas of the exhibition in Egypt in 2018, and we look forward to the implementation of this important event in cooperation with the Egyptian armed forces,” Porter said.

Moreover, the exhibition will receive about 400 prominent figures and ministers of defense, in addition to the institution works in coordination with a number of other institutions all over the world to participate in this exhibition in December 2018.
