CAIRO – 12 December 2017: Egyptian parliamentary delegation, led by the Head of Foreign Affairs Committee MP Tareq Radwan, held a meeting on Monday at the official seat of the European Parliament in Strasbourg to enlarge the role of parliamentary diplomacy in international organizations and entities.
During the meeting, both sides tackled common issues; the Egyptian delegation stressed their rejection of Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, asserting the importance of the two-state solution.
In addition, the Egyptian parliament reviewed Egypt’s efforts in combating terrorism, extremism and illegal immigration and in improving the status of women and youth in the community.
In this regard, the European parliament confirmed the necessity to continue the dialogue, enhancing relations in different fields between the two parliaments.
An Egyptian parliamentary delegation left on Sunday for Paris to visit the European parliament and discuss the latest regional and international developments, especially the Palestinian issue.
The visit came in the wake of the U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The delegation included the Head of the Foreign Relations Committee Tareq Radwan, Head of the Planning and Budget Committee Hussein Issa, Deputy Chief of Egypt Support Coalition Karim Darwish, Undersecretary of the Foreign Relations Committee Samia Rafla and Secretary of the Foreign Relations Committee Tareq el-Kholy.
