WASHINGTON – 1 April 2017: Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s visit to the United States this week is “historic,” Youm7 Editor-in-Chief Khaled Salah reported from outside the White House Saturday, where he is part of an Egyptian press delegation covering Sisi’s visit.
Sisi’s visit is the “first of its kind” in recent years, Salah said.
Salah added that Sisi is scheduled to hold several meetings on Sunday and will meet with officials from the World Bank, Chamber of Commerce and General Electric.
Sisi’s visit has “both political and economic dimensions,” Salah said. “Sisi will also meet with members of the Egyptian community here,” he noted.
President Sisi will hold bilateral talks Monday with U.S. President Donald Trump. Sisi, leading a high-level Egyptian delegation, left Cairo Saturday morning for the U.S. It is Sisi’s first visit to the White House, and the first time an Egyptian President has visited the White House since 2009.
