CAIRO – 6 December 2017: Egyptian parliament member Mostafa Bakry submitted a note to the parliament's Speaker to call for an emergency session to discuss U.S.
administration’s decision to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
Bakry explained in his note that Egypt has always defended the rights of the Palestinian people and cannot accept silence towards the dangerous U.S. decision that threatens the rights of the Palestinians.
“It is necessary to adopt the appropriate position that would force America to retreat from this hostile position towards our Arab and Islamic nation,” added Bakry.
Trump has delayed the signing of a waiver that would hold off relocating the embassy from Tel Aviv for another six months, as every U.S. president has done since Congress passed a law on the issue in 1995.
An announcement on the decision will be made "in [the] coming days," White House Spokesman Hogan Gidley told reporters aboard Air Force One, as Trump was returning from a trip to Utah.
