Sisi meets Chairperson of Russian Federation Council - press photo
CAIRO - 5 March 2017: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met with the chairperson of the Russian Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, Saturday. Matvienko was accompanied by a delegation from the council.
President Sisi said Egyptian-Russian relations are “rich and diverse” and noted that Egypt is keen on further enhancing them at various levels, particularly at the parliamentary level, which is a key aspect in bringing the two countries and peoples closer at the official and popular levels.
The president stressed the importance of reinforcing partnerships with Russia in various sectors, especially the economy and trade, by establishing industrial zones and logistics centers in Egypt, given the preferential market access Egypt gives Russian goods into Arab and African countries.
Ms. Matvienko conveyed the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin. She underlined Russia's appreciation of the outstanding relations with Egypt and noted that Russia looks forward to boosting them in various domains.
She lauded Egypt's key role in the Middle East as well as its efforts to restore stability and security and to resolve ongoing crises in the region.
This is in addition to decisively countering terrorism through military and security confrontations as well as intellectually and culturally.
She noted that Russia fully appreciates Egypt's efforts to this end and is keen on supporting its development endeavors so as to fulfill the Egyptian people's aspirations.
The meeting also touched on regional and international developments as well as means to further enhance bilateral ties.
