CAIRO – 4 December 2017: Several highways have been closed in Cairo, Giza, and several other governorates all over the country due to the heavy mist that covered the sky since early Monday morning.

The 26th of July road, the Ring road, Alexandria Desert Road, The Agricultural Road, Western Assiut Road and some coastal areas and roads were closed by the General Directorate of Traffic that imposed severe instructions for safe driving until the skies are cleared again. The instructions included committing to the legal speeds and leaving distances between cars.

The visibility level decreased on the highways due to the mist in ranges reaching 200 to 300 meters, according to the Traffic Directorate.

Meteorologist Iman Sahker said in statements to Sada el-balad on Monday that the misty weather that began on Sunday should last until Tuesday, December 5. She advised citizens to drive slowly, follow the instructions and turn on car headlights.
