CAIRO – 2 December 2017: The Head of the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome, Jehan Zaki, won on Friday the Executive Board Membership of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), for the second time.

Zaki was re-elected by all the 135 Member States of the ICCROM, according to media sources, renewing her first term from 2013 to 2017. Zaki was nominated by the Egyptian Minister of Culture Helmy al-Namnam.

The 30th General Assembly of the ICCROM was held for three days from November 29 to December 1. It discussed the agency’s strategic directions and nominated its next Director-General, for a six-year period, according to ICCROM’s official website.

The ICCROM is an intergovernmental organization established in 1956. It has the mission of preserving cultural heritage worldwide through information, research and advocacy programs. Egypt first joined the ICCROM as a Member State in 1959.
