Nabih El-Wahsh - Egyptian Lawyer accused in promting for rapping women in ripped jeans
CAIRO – 2 December 2017: The State Security Misdemeanor court of Al-Azbakia, will begin on Saturday the first trial session of Egyptian lawyer Mohamed Ahmed Bahnasy, known as Nabih El-Wahsh, who is charged with encouraging the raping of girls who wear ripped jeans.
General Prosecutor Nabil Sadeq, ordered the transfer of El-Wahsh to State Security Misdemeanor Court of Al-Azbakia, in the case dubbed “Girls’ Jeans”.
The prosecution freed El-Wahsh on an LE 10,000 bail, with charges of threatening public order and security.
Investigation reports mentioned that the lawyer was hosted in a TV program on October 18 debating a draft law on prostitution. He then claimed that women who wear ripped jeans deserve to be raped as an act of “national duty”.
The lawyer’s controversial comments during a live show spread widely, causing public anger and condemnation.
