CAIRO – 1 December 2017: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held on Friday talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the Mediterranean Dialogues forum, currently held in the Italian capital Rome.

The two top diplomats stressed strong relations between Egypt and Russia in all fields, the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said, adding that the meeting touched on efforts exerted to settle the Syrian crisis and combat terrorism.

They also tackled the situation in Lebanon and Yemen, the spokesman noted, adding that Shoukry reiterated Egypt's commitment to promoting cooperation with Russia to settle regional crises.

Shoukry briefed Lavrov on measures taken by the Egyptian government to enhance security at Egypt's airports.

Lavrov, meanwhile, offered condolences over the victims of a terrorist attack that targeted a mosque in North Sinai a week ago.

Egypt is capable of standing up to such terrorist attacks, he said, stressing that his country will continue to support Egypt in the fight against terrorism.
