CAIRO - 5 March 2017: The Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation announced on Sunday that it will complete a total of 376 water infrastructure projects at a cost of 2.7 billion EGP (US $169 million) nationwide by June 2017.
The ministry is scheduled to carry out a total of 268 infrastructure projects at a cost of EGP 7.397 billion (US $458 million) to be completed by June 2018, the statement added.
The projects include the establishment of a national irrigation network in North Sinai and the development of irrigation canals in the northern governorates of Kafr el-Sheikh, Beheira and Gharbia. The Ministry is also carrying out a project of flood-risk management in South Sinai.
The projects also include digging 246 underground wells for irrigating cultivated lands in Marsa Matrouh governorate on the Mediterranean Sea.
