CAIRO – 29 November 2017: Delegations participating in the Conference of the International Development Law Organization, that kicked off Wednesday in Rome, observed a minute of silence for the victims of Friday's terrorist attack on Al-Rawda Mosque in North Sinai.

The terrorist attack left 305 persons dead, including 27 children.

Hisham Badr, Egyptian ambassador to Italy and permanent representative of Egypt to the United Nations agencies in Rome, stated that Member States stressed on their support of Egypt against terrorism, adding that the president of the conference extended his condolences to Egypt and its people.

"Egypt appreciates the international community’s support in this critical era of its history, indicating that confronting terrorism requires the collective efforts on both regional and international levels," added Badr.

During his speech, the Egyptian ambassador asserted the importance of dealing with this serious phenomenon in an integrated manner, including the drying up of the sources of terrorism and halting the use of media to convey terrorist and extremist ideas.

"International Development Law Organization can support the efforts of Egypt and the international community to confront the dangers of terrorism as it is the organization that promotes the role of law," explained Badr.

The meetings of the Conference of the International Development Law Organization are held on November 28 and 29 in the Italian capital, Rome, with the participation of Member States; Ambassador Hisham Badr heads the Egyptian delegation.
