CAIRO – 29 November 2017: MP Mohamed al-Ghoul, deputy of the parliament's Human Rights Committee demanded that the authorities should use money and properties confiscated from the Muslim Brotherhood members to support martyrs’ families.
“Whoever spoils something has to fix it,” Ghoul said. After losing their family heads, the martyrs' families have no one to take care of them.
Ghoul said that the immediate ratification of the martyrs' families compensation law is of extreme necessity. "The Egyptian authorities should guarantee the right of these families to study and receive medical treatment at the state's expense," he added.
Following Wahat clashes last October, Egyptian parliament speaker, Ali Abdel Aal, announced that the martyrs' families compensation law will be ratified soon, as it is considered one of the parliament’s “priorities.”
Seventeen security personnel were killed during a raid on a militant hideout near the Giza-Wahat Road in Giza governorate, according to Interior Ministry.
On November 24, several militants stormed Al-Rawdah Mosque during Friday prayers in west Arish City and detonated an explosive device.
Egyptian Prosecutor General Nabil Sadeq announced that the death toll of the attack rose to 305.
