CAIRO – 1 March 2017: Naguib Sawiris, co-founder of the Free Egyptians Party, filed a lawsuit against party leader Essam Khalil Monday for expelling him from the party,

Youm7 reported

.

“The party leader and his entourage committed several violations and made illegal decisions that contradict the party’s bylaws,” Sawiris said in a Monday statement.
The party decided to expel Sawiris last week after he refused to attend an investigation into his statements attacking Khalil and the head of the party's parliamentary delegation, Alaa Abed, according to Parlmany.

Sawiris was a member of the party’s board of trustees from 2011 until the general assembly – in Sawiris’ absence - eliminated the board in 2016.

The Free Egyptians Party is the largest political party in the 596-member House of Representatives, with a total of 65 seats.
