AL welcomes outcome of Riyadh-hosted conf. on Syrian crisis

CAIRO - 26 November 2017: The Arab League welcomed on Sunday the outcome of an expanded Syrian opposition conference that was held in Riyadh on November 22-23.

Spokesman for the AL secretary general Mahmoud Afifi said the conference, in its concluding statement, called for maintaining Syria's unity and sovereignty and stressed that a political solution is best to the Syrian crisis in line with relevant UN resolutions.

He also called on the Syrian opposition to close ranks ahead of the Geneva meetings that will be held on Tuesday to reach a political settlement to the Syrian crisis.

The rival parties in Syria should put the interest of their country and the Syrian people first in order to maintain the country's security and stability, he added.
