CAIRO – 24 November 2017: The Egyptian Supreme Council condemns the tragic terror attack in Arish City, stressing that terrorism in Egypt is “breathing its last breath” and that terrorists’ tendency to attack mosques and civilians is an attempt to intimidate the civilians.

Egyptian Supreme Council for Media Regulation mourned the martyrs of Arish mosque terrorist attack, and called all media outlets to strictly abide by the official statements issued by the armed forces or the Ministry of the Interior and not to move behind unofficial sources.

They called the media sources to respect the country’s state of mourn in their published or broadcasted contents.

State statistics indicated that 235 were killed and 125 were injured in a terrorist attack at a mosque in Arish City, North Sinai in Friday.

A number of terrorists stormed Al Rawdah mosque in west Arish City during Friday prayers and detonated an explosive device.

The Ministry of Health earlier confirmed that the injured were transported to Bir al-Abed hospital in North Sinai. The mosque was damaged as a result of the bomb.

Eyewitnesses said that the terrorists set fire to cars that belonged to residents and blocked the road in Al Rawdah Village.

Security and medical sources in the attacked area reported that forces halted traffic on Arish-Qantara Road, and deployed ambulance vehicles to transport the injured to the hospital.
