CAIRO – 24 November 2017: The British ambassador to Egypt, John Casson, condemned the terror attack, which left 235 dead, that took place on Friday in the vicinity of Al-Rawdah mosque, West Arish city.

“I am disgusted by the evil attack that killed and injured so many Egyptians in Sinai today. On behalf of the UK, my deep condolences to all involved,” Casson said.

Casson tweeted that these attacks on people praying in mosques and churches only strengthen the UK’s determination to stand with Egypt to defeat terrorism and hate.

Edwin Samuel, Britain’s spokesperson for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), denounced the attack, saying that targeting innocent worshipers is horrific and cowardly. “We are all against violence and terror anywhere,” stated Samuel.

A number of terrorists stormed Al-Rawdah mosque in west Arish City during Friday prayers and detonated an explosive device.

The Ministry of Health confirmed earlier that 109 were injured in the attack, adding that the injured were transported to Bir al-Abed hospital in North Sinai. The mosque suffered damages as a result of the bomb.
