CAIRO – 22 November 2017: Egypt's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva participated in the annual international bazaar organized by United Nations Women's Guild (UNWG) on Wednesday.

Different countries’ missions presented their national products and foods at the bazaar and allocated the revenues to finance charity projects for children. The Egyptian mission showcased the products of families, supervised by the Ministry of Social Solidarity. Egyptian women participating in the mission gave the revenues to Kasr El Aini neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Founded in 1967, UNWG is a voluntary organization of women aimed at fostering friendship, encouraging appreciation between each others’ traditions and customs, and financially support charity projects benefiting children worldwide, especially in developing countries.

Every year, the UNWG, in collaboration with the Permanent Missions to the United Nations, Geneva government authorities and business communities organize an international bazaar and lottery to fundraise for disadvantaged children around the world. Over the years, the bazaar has become the premier event for the international community.

The UNWG Bazaar attracts more than 6,000 visitors and raises approximately 300,000 CHF. International arts and crafts as well as food stalls sell their wares and lottery tickets with over 200 fabulous prizes to be won, according to UNWG. A myriad of national booths and restaurant stalls at which native crafts and foods are sold at the bazaar are erected. Visitors can try many specialties from all over the world prepared by the ladies of the missions. Each year, around 70 missions’ participate in the bazaar including Egypt.
