TRIPOLI – 16 November 2017: The Libyan army bombarded and destroyed on Thursday the biggest Daesh hotbed south of Sirte city in Libya.

Radio Sawa quoted a Libyan Air Force commander as saying that the hotbed, including a big tent, military vehicles, fuel and water tanks, was used to launch attacks on the Libyan forces.

Daesh militants took over Sirte in early 2015, turning it into their most important base outside the Middle East and attracting large numbers of foreign fighters into the city.

In December 2016, Libyan forces backed by US air strikes liberated Sirte from Daesh terrorists after a near seven-month battle for the militant group’s former North African stronghold.

The US has launched three airstrikes against the militants camps in the same location this year.
